Pre-converters are located just before the main converter to
aide in the cleaning process. These are very small and light and
they are found only on a few vehicles. Some of the vehicles that
have these such as the Mustang and Camero don’t have full size
converters at all are designed exclusively with pre converters.
These vehicles usually have anywhere from 4 to 6 pre-converters
per exhaust system. Almost all of these are from Ford vehicles
and they all have slashes and dots on their heat shields. - Wraps
