Commodities mostly added to last week’s gains following the better than expected Chinese trade and industrial production figures released last week. In Shanghai today, most actively traded SHFE Dec copper settled 1.1% higher and base metal prices were holding up in London and New York today. At the London Metal Exchange this morning, LME official 3-mo. copper and aluminum firmed to $7,275/mt (=$3.30/lb.) and $1,880.50/mt (=85.3 cents/lb.), respectively, while LME official 3-mo. nickel rose to $14,890/mt (=$6.75/lb). In New York, COMEX Sep copper was little changed at just over $3.30/lb. early this afternoon while crude oil and gold futures advanced to over $106/bbl and $1,335/to., respectively. While the dollar edged up against most major rivals, stocks on Wall Street were mixed with the Dow Industrials off over 0.1% as the Nasdaq rose 0.2% in early afternoon trading…
