On Friday, base metals were in a holding pattern in early trading following multi-week highs set earlier in the week. In London, LME 3-mo. copper and aluminum were little changed around $7,235/mt (=$3.282/lb.) and $1,800/mt (=81.6 cents/lb.), respectively, this morning, while 3-mo. nickel briefly dipped below the $14,000/mt mark. In foreign exchange trading the dollar moved up to $1.3725 vs the Euro and 103.9 Japanese Yen this morning. In Europe, most of the major stock indexes posted early gains today while in the U.S. the Dow Industrials will look to break a 3-day losing streak. But with U.S. producer prices the only significant economic release due out today, investors are already looking ahead to next week’s manufacturing data and policy announcement due out from the Federal Reserve…
